We Want to Give a Shout-Out To:

A Shout out is in order for our young clients who swam in their last Kansas City Country Club League Championships at Mission Hills Country Club on July 11th. It is hard to believe these swimmers have graduated and are heading to college.  We remember when many started their swimming career as 8 & Unders, wondering if they would make it the length of the pool.  Seeing them in their final races reminds us that time marches on.  These seniors should be congratulated for serving as role models to the younger swimmers.  We know they are going to have terrific collegiate careers and only hope we can encourage them to return to Kansas City for their professional careers.

Included in this years senior swimmers are bank clients~

Anna Petrow from Shawnee Mission East, swimming for Mission Hills CC, who is headed to the famous Journalism school at the University of Missouri, Emily Quirk from Pembroke Hill, swimming for the Kansas City CC, who is headed to Bowdoin College in Maine to play golf, Mary Reed from Pembroke Hill, swimming for the Kansas City CC, who is headed to Rhodes College in Memphis to also play golf, and Whitaker Sherk from Shawnee Mission East, swimming for Mission Hills CC, who is headed to the great Northwest and the University of Oregon.

We thought we would give a Shout Out to our bank spokesman, KC Radio legend, Mike Murphy, who celebrated his 70th Birthday on July 15th at the Corner Cocktail.  Mike was surrounded by his usual Wednesday lunch crew, which included Former Kansas City mayor, Charles Wheeler, Las Vegas and TV Singer, Marilyn Maye, as well as numerous friends and family.  Mike was in fine order with his trademark deep voice and razor sharp wit.

We would be remiss if we did not note the passing of our friend and mentor, Don Stein, on April 8th. Don will always be remembered by us for his street wisdom, common sense, modesty and business acumen. Don served as a B-25 pilot in North Africa during World War II and was award the Distinguish Flying Cross.  Don returned to Kansas City where he owned the well known Don Stein Buick dealership and served as President of the Oakwood Country Club. We will miss Don, but will well remember and adhere to the standards he set for Kansas City business owners and community leaders.

Alex Cox, a Shawnee Mission East High School senior, who signed a letter of intent with Pratt Community College to play baseball.  We know he will do well at the next level!

Brady Bates and Jacob Sinclair of the Pembroke Hill Lacrosse team, who successfully launched their defense of the Pembroke Hill State Championship title.

Michael Snyder, who spent his Pembroke Hill 8th Grade Career Day with us on Friday, March 26th. As always, we learned much from Michael's questions and he learns from us.

Mary Lucas, who wrote a great leadership book, Lunchmeat and Life Lessons, regarding the common sense wisdom of her father, John Bichelmeyer, a well known Kansas City butcher.  Although only achieving an 8th grade education, Mr. Bichelmeyer founded a meat company that still thrives today through his sons and family members.  If you would like a copy of this wonderful book of wisdom sent to you with our compliments and to show our appreciation for being your bank and bankers, please call me at the bank, write or email me, and we will send you a copy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who knows the wisdom of a small businessman is something that should be cherished and shared.
